Reports Overview
Nimbu provides three categories of reports to help administrators and trainers monitor their organisation's training activity: Engagement, Progress, and Compliance. Each report category serves a distinct purpose from understanding how actively students are interacting with content, to reviewing assessment outcomes, to meeting regulatory reporting obligations.
What's Covered in This Article
This article introduces the reports available in Nimbu and explains who can access them:
- Engagement reports: Monitoring student and class activity levels.
- Progress reports: Viewing student assessment results and unit completion.
- AVETMISS reports: Exporting AVETMISS data for regulatory reporting.
- Who can access which reports: Permission requirements for each report type.
- Navigating to reports: How to find each report in the platform.
Engagement Reports
Engagement reports show how actively students are interacting with learning content across your organisation. These reports help you identify students who are at risk of falling behind, measure time-on-task, and compare activity levels across classes. Engagement data is available at two levels depending on your role.
Admin: Overall Engagement
Administrators with Engagement Metrics permission can view a platform-wide engagement overview. This includes:
- Total Class: the number of classes currently active.
- Total Enrollments: count of all enrolments (active and non-active).
- Active Enrollments: count of currently active enrolments.
- Enrollments Not Engaged: enrolments where the student has not viewed or completed any course content. Clicking View details shows the list of students, their emails, and the classes they belong to.
The Overall Engagement chart plots engagement rate by student over a selected date range, with each data point showing the number of engaged students at that point in time.
The Top Engagement table ranks classes by their engagement rate, showing the class name, trainer, and the proportion of engaged students. You can search by class or trainer name.
The Class Engagement table provides a breakdown by class, showing:
| Column | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Class | Class code and name. |
| Active Students | Number of currently active students in the class. |
| Enrolled Students | Total number of students enrolled. |
| Course Completion | Completion rate as a percentage with a visual progress bar. |
| Total Time | Total time all students have spent on content in the class. |
| Time per Student | Average time spent per student. |
Trainer: Class Engagement
Trainers can view engagement data for their own classes, including:
- Enrolment counts (total, active, expired, not engaged).
- A class engagement chart showing activity over time.
- Student-level engagement broken down by content category: Learning Content, Assessments, and Observations - each with hours engaged and a comparison against the previous period.
- A content engagement table showing which specific content items students have interacted with, how many students completed or viewed each item, total time, and average time.
- Individual student engagement showing time spent, percentage completed, and recently viewed items.
How to Navigate to Engagement Reports
- Administrators: Navigate to Engagement in the left sidebar under Operation.
- Trainers: Navigate to Engagement in the left sidebar, then select the relevant class.
Progress Reports
Progress reports give trainers and administrators visibility into individual student assessment results and unit completion status. Unlike Engagement reports, which focus on activity levels, Progress reports focus on outcomes - what students have submitted, how they have been marked, and where they currently stand in their unit.
Progress data is accessed through the student record rather than a dedicated Reports page.
What Progress Data Shows
From a student's Progress tab, you can view:
- Learning Progress: A class-by-class, unit-by-unit breakdown of each student's activities. For each expanded unit, activities are grouped by type (Assessment, Evokio Assessment, Practical/Observation) and show the current result status (e.g. IP, S, NS, TBM, IA), attempt count, and a View link to open the full submission.
- Student Engagement: Time spent on each content item, last viewed date, and completion status provide a per-student version of the class engagement data described above.
From within a student's activity view, you can also see:
- The overall result at the top of the screen (S – Satisfactory, NS – Not Satisfactory, TBM – To Be Marked), along with the marking trainer's name and the date marked.
- Submission Info, including total submission count, feedback count, and individual submission entries with the trainer's name, timestamp, written feedback, and any attached files.
- Per-question results, student answers, and a Show previous attempts link where multiple submissions exist.
How to Navigate to Progress Reports
- Navigate to Students in the left sidebar.
- Open the relevant student's profile.
- Go to the Progress tab.
- Select Learning Progress or Student Engagement as needed.
- Expand a unit to view activity-level results, or click View on an activity to open the full submission detail.
Trainers can also access a quick progress summary directly from Class Management by clicking on a student's enrolment within the class grid.
Compliance Reports (AVETMISS)
The AVETMISS report is Nimbu's compliance export, designed to support Australian RTOs in meeting their national data reporting obligations. It compiles student enrolment and outcome data from across your classes into a downloadable file.
The AVETMISS report draws on the following data stored in Nimbu:
- Student profile fields: last name, first name, USI, phone, email.
- Class and course identifiers: national codes, national titles, internal codes, internal titles, and course type (accredited or non-accredited).
- Trainer information: primary trainer name and email.
- RTO details: RTO number and name (if configured in RTO Settings).
- Enrolment data: enrolment ID, status, start date, and end date.
- Unit outcome data: national or internal code and title, start date, end date, and result (Competent or Not Yet Competent) for each unit.
Note: Enrolment status in the AVETMISS export reflects the following values: Inactive, In Progress, Competent, and Not Yet Competent. Ensure student profile data and unit results are accurate and up to date before generating an export.
How to Navigate to the AVETMISS Report
Navigate to AVETMISS Data in the left sidebar. The exact location may vary depending on your organisation's sidebar configuration if you cannot locate it, check with your administrator or refer to the dedicated AVETMISS article.
Note: When an AVETMISS report is ready to download, administrators receive an in-app notification and an email notification (if enabled in Notification Settings).
