Using the AI Assistant
Nimbu includes a built-in AI learning companion called Michi. Michi is designed to support your study by helping you understand and engage with the content in your course, summarising key ideas, generating revision tools, and answering your questions. Rather than giving you direct answers to assessment questions, Michi guides your thinking and encourages you to engage deeply with the material.

What the AI Assistant Can Do
Michi acts as a focused tutor, not a general-purpose AI chatbot. Everything Michi does is anchored to the specific learning material you are currently viewing. This means:
- Michi will only discuss topics directly related to the content you have open.
- Michi will not give you direct answers to assessment questions. If you ask something that looks like an assessment question or an off-topic query, Michi will gently redirect you, for example, pointing you to a specific section of the content where you can find the answer yourself.
- Michi will encourage and acknowledge you when you demonstrate solid understanding or answer a question correctly.
This approach is intentional. It is designed to help you engage with the material and develop strong critical thinking skills, rather than just providing answers.
Accessing Michi
When you are viewing a supported learning resource, the Michi icon appears at the top right of the content page.
- Click the Michi icon to open the Michi Assistant modal.
- The modal opens on the right side of the content page, so you can view the learning material and Michi side by side.
- From the modal, you can click the full-screen icon to expand Michi for a more focused experience, or click the X icon to close it.
The Michi home screen displays three options: Summarise Content, Flashcards, and Quizzes.

Summarising Content
The Summarise Content feature gives you a quick overview of the learning material you are currently viewing.
To summarise content:
- Open Michi from the content page.
- Select Summarise Content.
- Michi reads the current learning material and generates a summary in the chat window.
Once the summary appears, you can continue the conversation, ask Michi to go deeper on a specific point, find a reference, or clarify a concept covered in the material. You can also regenerate the summary or copy the content to use elsewhere.
After reading the summary, Michi will suggest next steps such as Take a quiz or Review with flashcards to continue your study.
Note: Michi will not answer questions unrelated to the current content, or provide direct answers to potential assessment questions. It will guide you back to the relevant part of the material instead.

Generating Flashcards for Study
The Flashcards feature automatically creates a set of revision cards based on key terms and concepts in the current learning material.
To generate flashcards:
- Open Michi from the content page.
- Select Flashcards.
- If this is your first time, an introduction screen appears, click Start to generate the flashcards. Michi will display a loading screen while it works.
- Once ready, your flashcard set is displayed. Each card shows a question or term. Click Show The Answer to reveal the answer.
Each flashcard set contains between 5 and 10 cards covering the main points from the material. After revealing an answer, you can indicate whether you found the card easy or difficult, this helps track your engagement over time.
At the end of the set, you can rate the questions and then choose to Take Quiz or Try Again to redo the flashcard set from the beginning.

Things to know:
- You can navigate between cards using the Next and Previous icons in the footer.
- Flashcards are saved so you can return to them later without regenerating.
- You can retry the flashcard set as many times as you like.
Practice Quizzes
The Quizzes feature generates a short self-marking quiz based on the current learning material, allowing you to test your knowledge at your own pace.
To take a practice quiz:
- Open Michi from the content page.
- Select Quizzes.
- If this is your first time, an introduction screen appears, click Start to generate the quiz. Michi will display a loading screen while it works.
- Once ready, work through the questions. You can navigate between questions using the Next and Previous icons in the footer. You can move to the next question without selecting an answer.
- Once you have finished, submit to see your results.
The results screen shows your final score and the correct answer for each question — a tick indicates a correct response, and an X indicates an incorrect one. From the results screen, you can choose to View Flashcards or Try Again to redo the quiz.

Things to know:
- Quizzes contain between 5 and 10 questions, using a mix of True/False, Multiple Choice, and Selection question types.
- Each question is worth 1 point.
- Quizzes are saved so you can return to them later without regenerating.
- Practice quizzes are for self-study only. Your results are not sent to your trainer and do not affect your unit progress or results.
Chatting with Michi About Content
After summarising content, you can continue chatting with Michi in the same window to explore the material further. You can ask Michi to:
- Explain a concept in more detail.
- Find a specific section or reference within the content.
- Clarify terminology used in the material.
Michi will stay focused on the learning material you have open. If you ask a question unrelated to the current content, or ask for a direct answer to what appears to be an assessment question, Michi will let you know it cannot help with that and redirect you to the relevant part of the material.
