Receiving Your Invitation Email
When your RTO adds you to an active class, Nimbu automatically sends a welcome email to the address your trainer or administrator has on file.
Depending on whether you are a new or existing user, you may receive one or both of the following emails.
Email 1: Account Credentials
If you are new to Nimbu, you will first receive an email containing your login details. This email includes:
- A personalised greeting with your name and your RTO's name
- Your registered Email address
- A temporary Password to use on first login
- A Login URL: a direct link to your training portal
Email 2: Class Enrolment Invitation
Once you have been enrolled in a specific class, you will receive a second email with your class details. This email includes:
- Your trainer's name and contact email, in case you have questions
- Your RTO/Organisation name
- Your Course name
- Your Class name
- Your Trainer name
- A Login URL to access your training portal

Didn't receive an email? Check your spam or junk folder first. If it is not there, confirm with your trainer that the correct email address was used when creating your account.

- Open your invitation email and click the Login URL link, or copy and paste the URL into your browser.

Navigating the Student Dashboard
When you log in, your dashboard gives you an immediate overview of your learning. Here is what you will see and how to use each area.
Your Dashboard at a Glance
The student dashboard is your home base. It shows your enrolled classes, your progress across units, and any outstanding tasks that need your attention.
Key areas you will find on your dashboard:
- My Classes: A summary of every class you are currently enrolled in, including the course name and your progress.
- Recommended Courses: Tasks, assessments, and observations that are due or have been recently activated by your trainer.
- Notifications: In-app alerts for new activations, results, resubmission requests, and messages from your trainer.

Accessing Your Class and Units
To start learning:
- From the dashboard, click on the class you want to open.
- You will see the units included in your class. Each unit is a module of your course covering a specific topic or set of learning outcomes.
- Click on a unit to expand it and see its contents, this includes learning resources (articles, videos, PDFs) and activities (assessments and observations).

Understanding Unit Statuses
Each unit in your course displays a status label that reflects your current progress. These statuses update automatically as you work through your training.
| Status | What It Means |
|---|---|
| IA: Inactive | You have not yet started this unit. It may be waiting for your trainer to activate it, or it may be locked by a prerequisite. |
| IP: In Progress | You have started this unit and have work still to complete. |
| AR: Awaiting Result | You have completed all required content in this unit. Your trainer is reviewing your result. |
| C: Competent | You have successfully completed this unit and achieved a competent outcome. |
| NC: Not Competent | You did not meet the required standard for this unit. Your trainer may ask you to resubmit work. |
Completing Learning Resources
For PDF, video, podcast, Canva, and article content, a Complete button will appear once you have reviewed the material. Click it to mark the item as done and unlock any content that depends on it.

Starting an Assessment or Observation
Assessments and observations are the activities your trainer will mark and grade. To access them:
- Navigate to the unit containing the assessment or observation.
- Click the View button next to the activity.
- If the activity has been activated by your trainer, you will see an information screen showing any relevant time limits or attempt details. Click Start Now to begin.
Note: Some assessments require your trainer to activate them before you can access them. If an activity appears locked and you believe it should be available, contact your trainer.
Finding Your Results
Once your trainer has marked your work, you will receive an in-app notification and an email. To view your results:
- Click on the relevant unit.
- Locate the assessment or observation and click View.
- Your result, feedback, and any comments from your trainer will be displayed.
