Pre-Training Content
The Pre-Training Review (PTR) is a dual-purpose tool designed to prepare learners for an upcoming course. It allows you to deliver essential informational resources whilst simultaneously evaluating a student's foundational understanding through a targeted assessment. By requiring students to complete these tasks before the course starts, your RTO ensures a baseline level of competency and preparation across the entire cohort.

Understanding Pre-Training Components
The pre-training process is split into two distinct components:
Pre-Training Review Assessment
A structured assessment consisting of questions designed to evaluate the student's foundational understanding of the subject matter. When enabled and linked to a course, students must successfully complete this assessment to demonstrate their readiness and gain access to their class.
Key feature: Auto-marked questions provide immediate feedback, ensuring students meet baseline knowledge requirements before training begins.
Pre-Course Material
A collection of static informational files, such as student handbooks, privacy policies, or course guides. Students are often required to acknowledge that they have read these materials before they are permitted to proceed to their class.
Key feature: Documents can require formal acknowledgement (Agreement Declaration) to ensure students have reviewed critical information.

Operational Benefits
- Automated Readiness: By requiring students to complete these tasks before the course starts, your RTO ensures a baseline level of competency and preparation across the entire cohort.
- Standardised Evidence Collection: By using the Pre-Course Material section, you can ensure students have received and acknowledged essential documents like student handbooks and course guides prior to starting their training.
- Default Settings: Administrators can set a "default" PTR at the RTO level so that every new course created automatically loads these standard materials, significantly reducing administrative setup time. See: Setting Default PTR at RTO Level
- Flexible Course Mapping: Content Editors can easily link specific PTR content to accredited courses via the Units & Content tab
Note: PTR is only required when it has been enabled and linked to a specific course. Courses without PTR linked allow students immediate access to their class.
