Resubmitting Work

If your trainer reviews your assessment or observation and determines that some or all of your work needs improvement, they can request that you redo it. This is a normal part of the learning process - it is your trainer's way of giving you the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge and skills to the required standard. This article explains the two types of requests you may receive and how to respond to each.

What's Covered in This Article

This article explains the resubmission process from your perspective as a student, covering both types of requests your trainer may send and what to do when due dates apply.

When Trainers Request Resubmission

After reviewing your submitted work, your trainer has two tools available to request further action from you. Which one they use depends on how much of your work needs to be redone.

Resubmission

A Resubmission means your trainer has asked you to redo work as a new attempt. This may apply to:

  • The entire assessment or observation: you start the activity again from scratch.
  • Selected questions only: you redo only the specific questions your trainer has identified, usually those marked as Not Satisfactory.

Resubmission is typically used when significant rework is needed, or when your trainer wants you to demonstrate a clearer understanding of the subject.

Revision

A Revision means your trainer has asked you to edit and improve your existing submission without creating a new attempt. You update your current answers and resubmit the same piece of work.

Revision is typically used when your work is close to meeting the standard but needs minor improvements or clarifications.

How You Will Know

When your trainer sends either type of request, you will receive:

  • An in-app notification with the title "Resubmission" or "Revisions Request".
  • An email containing the activity name, your trainer's feedback (if provided), any due date, and a direct link to the activity.

Your activity status will change from TBM (To Be Marked) back to IP (In Progress), signalling that it is back with you for further work.

How to Resubmit Your Work

Accessing the Resubmission

  1. Click the link in your notification email, or navigate to the relevant unit in your class.
  2. Click View on the assessment or observation.
  3. A modal will appear showing the resubmission details, including:
    • Whether it is a new attempt or selected questions only.
    • Any feedback your trainer has provided.
    • The due date (if one has been set).
  4. Review the details carefully, then click Start Now to proceed.

Completing a New Attempt

If your trainer has requested a full new attempt:

  • All previous answers are cleared and you begin the assessment or observation fresh.
  • Complete all questions as you would for a first attempt.
  • Use any feedback your trainer provided to guide your improved responses.
  • When finished, click Submit to send your work back for marking.

Note: For observations, if your trainer had already completed their checklist questions as part of the original submission, their answers are not affected by a new attempt. Only the student questions are reset.

Completing Selected Questions Only

If your trainer has requested resubmission for specific questions only:

  • Only the identified questions are available for you to update. Other questions remain as they were.
  • Review the questions carefully - your previous answers for the unresubmitted questions remain on record.
  • Use your trainer's feedback to improve your responses to the flagged questions.
  • When finished, click Submit to send your work back.

Revision Requests

A revision request asks you to edit and improve your current submission rather than start again. This is lighter than a resubmission, no new attempt is created, and your previous answers remain in place for the questions not flagged for revision.

What to Expect

When you receive a revision request:

  • The activity returns to IP (In Progress) status.
  • You can open the activity and see your existing answers.
  • The specific questions your trainer wants you to revise will be clearly indicated.
  • Any feedback your trainer previously left on those questions will have been cleared so you can approach them with fresh attention.

How to Complete a Revision

  1. Access the activity via the notification link or from your unit.
  2. Review the questions flagged for revision and your trainer's reason or comments (if provided).
  3. Update your answers for the flagged questions. Other questions are visible but cannot be edited.
  4. When you are satisfied with your revised responses, click Submit.

Your work is sent back to your trainer for review. The status returns to TBM (To Be Marked).

Note: Revisions do not count as a new attempt. If your assessment has an attempt limit, your attempt count remains unchanged.

Due Dates for Resubmission

Your trainer may or may not set a due date when requesting a resubmission or revision. The due date (if set) will be displayed in the notification email and in the activity modal when you open it.

If a Due Date Is Set

  • A countdown timer will be visible while you are working on the activity.
  • Submit your work before the due time to ensure it is complete and intentional.
  • If the due time is reached before you submit, the activity is automatically submitted by the system and a pop-up notification will appear on your screen.
  • Any unanswered questions at the time of auto-submission will be marked as NS (Not Satisfactory).

If the Activity Is Locked Until a Certain Time

In some cases, your trainer may set a lock time - meaning the resubmission is not available to you until a specified date and time. This will be stated in your notification. You cannot access the activity before the lock time ends.

Once the lock time passes, the activity opens automatically and you can begin your resubmission.

If Trainer Activation Is Required Again

For activities that require trainer activation, your trainer may choose to manually re-activate the resubmission when they are ready. In this case, you will receive a separate notification once the activity has been activated and is available for you to access.
