Enabling Online Registration
Online Registration transforms your course template into a public-facing enrolment pathway. By enabling this setting, prospective students can find your courses and register themselves directly via the Nimbu Course Catalog or a dedicated registration link — reducing administrative overhead and giving learners a modern, self-service experience.
What's Covered in This Article
This article detailing how to configure and secure your public enrollment pathways.
- What Online Registration Does: How enabling the toggle opens your course to the public.
- Registration URL: Using dedicated links for targeted outreach.
- Access Contro: Implementing optional password protection for private or restricted cohorts.
- Requirements: What must be in place before students can successfully register.
What Online Registration Does
When you toggle Allow Online Registration to on, Nimbu makes the course available for external sign-ups. Students can register through your RTO's Course Catalog or via a direct link you distribute to your audience.
Important: Once Online Registration is enabled, it cannot be disabled. Confirm this setting is appropriate for your course before turning it on.

Registration URL
Once Online Registration is enabled, Nimbu automatically generates a unique Register Link for that course.
- Direct Access: Copy this URL for use in email campaigns, social media, or your organisation's website.
- Landing Page: The link directs students to a branded registration page where they can review course details and complete their enrolment.
Access Control: Password Protection
To restrict access to only the right students, you can add an optional password to the registration link.
- How it works: If a password is set, students who click the registration link will be prompted to enter it before they can proceed with the enrolment form.
- When to use: Ideal for private corporate training or invite-only programs where the link may be shared broadly but access needs to remain controlled.

Requirements for Student Enrolment
For Online Registration to function correctly, the course must meet specific structural requirements:
- A published class exists: Students cannot enrol into a course without an active class to receive them. Ensure at least one published class is attached to the course before sharing your registration link.
- Or Self-Served is enabled: If you do not wish to manage classes manually, enable the Self-Served setting. This automatically creates and manages the class structure, so students can register and access content immediately. See the Setting: Self-Served Courses article for more detail.
If neither condition is met, students will encounter an error when attempting to register. Set up your class or enable Self-Served before promoting your registration link.
