In Nimbu, a Course is more than just a title; it is the central hub of your student’s learning journey. Whether you are delivering a full Qualification (Accredited) or a short professional development workshop (Non-Accredited), the Course creation tool is designed for flexibility and speed.
We have integrated powerful automation features like Add to Course Catalog, Self-Serve modes and Online Registration to help RTOs reduce administrative friction. By streamlining how courses are displayed and accessed, you can focus on increasing enrolments rather than managing spreadsheets

This guide provides a step-by-step workflow for setting up and configuring a new Course within the Nimbu platform.
By the end of this article, Administrators/ Trainers will be able to:
- Navigate to the Course management dashboard.
- Correctly classify courses (Accredited vs. Non-Accredited) for data integrity.
- Configure advanced enrolment settings, including Online Registration and Self-Serve automation.
- Upload course marketing assets (Descriptions and Thumbnails).
- Publish courses to the Student Course Catalogue.
Configuration Guide: Step-by-Step
Step 1 - Navigate to the Courses Page
From the main dashboard, locate the Curriculum section in the left-hand menu. Click on Courses, this will take you to the main course management page, where you can see all your existing courses.
Step 2 - Add a New Course
In the top-right corner of the screen, click the red Add button. A pop up of for your selection whether the course is Accredited or Non-Accredited will appear


Step 3 - Fill in Course Details
If you are creating an accredited course, enter the official National Code and National Title.
For non-accredited courses, this section may be skipped or you'll have different fields to fill out.

Course Details: Use the toggles to configure your course's settings:
- Allow Online Registration: Enable this option to let students register for the course directly from the Course Catalog or via a shared URL. You can set password for student to register the course

- Enable Self-Serve Course: When you enable this, a class will be automatically created and linked to the course. This lets students register and immediately access all the course units without manual intervention.
- Add to Course Catalog: This option makes the course visible to students on their dashboard, making it easier for them to browse and discover it.

Course Description: Use the text editor to write a clear and concise description of the course. This will be visible to students and should explain what the course is about and who it's for.
Course Thumbnail: Use the image type jpeg or png to upload which will be displayed for this course

Step 4 - Save as Draft and Publish
Once you have completed all the details, click the Publish button in the top-right corner to make the course live.


You can also click Save as Draft if you want to finish the setup later.
