Marking Dashboard
The Marking Dashboard is your central hub for viewing, organising, and managing all student work that requires your attention. It brings together every pending assessment and observation submission across all your classes into a single, prioritised workspace, so you can focus on marking rather than hunting for submissions.

Accessing the Marking Dashboard
From the main left-hand navigation sidebar, click Marking.
Permissions Required: Only Trainers with the Mark Students permission can access the Marking Dashboard. If you cannot see the Marking option in your sidebar, contact your Administrator to confirm your permissions. See Managing Users for more detail.
Once inside, you will see three tabs across the top of the screen:
- Assessments
- Practical/Observation For Class
- Practical/Observation For Student

Understanding the Three Marking Tabs
- Assessments Tab: This tab displays all digital assessment submissions that are waiting for your review. Each row represents one student's submission for a specific assessment, which are:
- Student: Student's name who submitted the work
- Assessment: Name of the assessment
- Unit Code: The unit this assessment belongs to
- Class: The class name
- Date: Submission date and time (most recent first)
Submissions appear in chronological order with the most recent at the top. Use this tab as your primary queue for day-to-day assessment marking.
- Practical/Observation For Class Tab: This tab organises observations by activity rather than by individual student, giving you an at-a-glance view of how many students are waiting to be marked for each observation across your classes, which are:
- Practical/Observation: Name of the observation activity
- Unit Code: The unit this observation belongs to
- Class: The class name
- Total: Total number of students assigned this observation
- Be Marked: Number of students with work ready for your marking
- Completed: Number of students you've finished marking
Click any row to open that observation and see all students' submissions for it. This view is most efficient when you want to mark one observation across multiple students in a single session.
- Practical/Observation For Student Tab: This tab displays individual student observation submissions, one row per student per submission, similar in layout to the Assessments tab, which are:
- Student: Student's name who submitted the work
- Practical/ Observation: Name of the observation
- Unit Code: The unit this observation belongs to
- Class: The class name
Use this tab when you want to review all outstanding submissions for a specific student, or when you prefer to mark observation by observation rather than class by class.

Each tab includes a search bar to help you quickly locate specific work without scrolling through your full queue.

Understanding Status Indicators
Submissions in your marking queue display status badges to help you identify what requires action and what is still in progress:
- TBM (To Be Marked) - Highest Priority
- Work has been submitted and is waiting for your review
- These are your primary action items
- Focus on TBM items first
- AR (Awaiting Result) - High Priority
- Unit has all required content completed
- Waiting for you to set the final unit result
- Only appears when manual unit marking is enabled
- Requires final decision and feedback
- IP (In Progress) - Monitoring Priority
- Student is currently working on this activity
- No immediate action required from you
- Monitor for students who might need support
- Revisions - Medium Priority
- You've requested the student revise specific questions
- Student is editing and hasn't resubmitted yet
- Will return to TBM when student resubmits

Quick Navigation Tips
Assessments Tab:
- Open the Assessments tab.
- Start from the top: submissions are ordered most recent first.
- Work through TBM items as your first priority.
- Use the search bar if you need to locate a specific student or assessment quickly.
Practical/ Observation For Class Tab:
- Open the Practical/ Observation For Class tab.
- Check the Be Marked column: any row with a number greater than 0 has students waiting.
- Click the row to open that observation and mark all waiting students in one session.
- This approach is most efficient when you have multiple students completing the same observation.
Practical/ Observation For Student Tab:
- Open the Practical/ Observation For Student tab.
- Search by the student's name to filter their submissions.
- Review all outstanding observations for that student in one view.
- This is particularly useful for comprehensive progress reviews or when a student has multiple pending submissions.
