Customising Units in a Class

A course blueprint defines the standard curriculum - but individual classes sometimes need more. Nimbu allows you to add supplementary units to a specific class, giving you the flexibility to extend the learning path for a particular cohort without modifying the parent course or affecting any other class.

What's Covered in This Article

This article explains how to manage and modify the unit structure within a live class.

Adding Additional Units to a Class

You can expand a class's curriculum by pulling units directly from your registry.

  1. Navigate to Classes in the left-hand sidebar and click the class you want to manage.
  2. In the Class Management tab, click the Add Unit button in the top-right area of the Class Details section.
  3. In the Add Unit window, filter by Accredited, Non-Accredited, or Cluster type, or use the search bar to find a specific unit by code or name.
  4. Select the units you wish to add and click Continue to confirm.

Unit Display Order

Units appear on the student's dashboard in the order they were added to the class — units inherited from the course blueprint appear first, followed by any units added at the class level. There is no option to reorder units within a class once they have been added.

If a specific delivery sequence is important, plan the order in which units are added accordingly.

Constraints

Self-Served Classes

Unit customisation is not available for Self-Served classes. The Add Unit button is not displayed for Self-Served classes regardless of whether students have enrolled. Any curriculum changes for a Self-Served course must be made at the course or unit level before the class is created.

Units Cannot Be Removed

Once a unit is added to a class — whether inherited from the course blueprint or added manually — it cannot be removed. This protects the integrity of student records and ensures that any progress or results already recorded against that unit are not lost.
